We increasingly read about the importance of kindness in the working environment.
Kindness. Respect. Unselfishness.
The Duchess of Sussex recently presented the award to Givenchy designer Claire Weight-Keller saying:”As all of you in this room know, we have a deep connection to what we wear… for me, this connection is rooted in really being able to understand that it’s about supporting and empowering each other, especially as women… I recently read an article that said, ‘The culture of fashion has shifted from one where it was cool to be cruel to now, where it’s cool to be kind.'”
And again, the same night Miuccia Prada said “This is just a little note from all of us who work in fashion. I think that more and more we should feel the responsibility of defending human rights and freedom that in this moment are a little bit in danger”.
Have fashion and luxury brands really started being kind to their own employees?
And creating a no-fear, motivating and enjoyable working environment?
Abolishing the hire and fire, bullish, harassing attitude?
Isn’t it time for fashion and luxury to finally set up a non toxic code of conduct?
And to walk the talk?
Just wishful thinking?
